The league began in 1999 by a small group of women who wanted to learn the game but didn’t have an outlet to do so at a beginner’s level. They promptly organized a group of interested women who began by practicing at 6:00 am once a week.
From this group a league was formed in 2000 consisting of four teams. Today the league has grown to 8-9 teams playing four games of hockey every Friday night.
